Fascinating Ways in Which ‘Based on a True Story’ Movies Differ from Real Life

I think most of us are smart enough to know that Hollywood takes a lot of liberties in making its films more marketable to audiences. Even if a movie is “based on a true story,” it can be safe to assume that many changes were made to the original narrative in order to make it more likable, entertaining, and relatable.

Still, I was shocked to read some of the actualities revealed in 24 Movies Based On a True Story (That Are Full of Shit). I’ve picked 10 of my favorites below — did you know about these?

Aw, I’m sad to hear that Stella didn’t get her happy ending! 🙁

With regards to the Erin Brokovich case, it actually says in the movie that the firm would get 40% of any settlement (which would have been millions!). Also, it generally takes about six months for settlement monies to be paid when insurers are involved. This is not controlled by the law firm and quite normal.

Have never get got Cholesterol from McDonalds since I haven’t eaten there. I get mine from other fast food restaurants. 🙁
As far as Braveheart goes unfortunately my Scottish ancestors were mostly poor mercenaries more than great idealist (empty bellies make for poor ideals).
