Being pregnant, it is not uncommon to have days when you feel utterly unattractive. Even if you have been through it before like I have, the insane amount of changes to your body makes you feel out of control and continually self-conscious.
Perhaps that is why so many pregnant women choose to make drastic changes to their appearance (mainly, in the form of their hair)?
Last weekend I visited my favorite salon for a trim…and found myself asking my stylist to chop 6 inches off my long mane.
I chattered away nervously as she make the first few cuts. I was both horrified and devastated to see the long locks falling to the floor, but knew that it was too late to ask her to stop. When she was finally finished…
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, only to discover that loved my new haircut.
I haven’t had my hair this short since college, so even after a full week I still get startled to see myself in the mirror every morning. But there is now so much more movement and manageability, not to mention the (literal) extra weight off my head.
Since the pictures I have up on my internet life (including this blog) are old ones, I slathered on some extra makeup today and asked J for an impromptu photoshoot.
I am now thinking of dying my hair too — again, something I haven’t done since college. I’ve read that the ombre look is popular now, and when I asked my stylist about it she told me that not only would look great with my new haircut, it would give it some extra texture too.
What do you think? Should I go for the color change too?
P.S. — Notice anything different about my header? You’ve asked for it…Comang is now included too!
You look great! I love the length: it’s still long enough to pull back and flow well. I need a haircut too…
You look beautiful!
But isn’t it a big no no for pregnant women to have their hair colored?
They say that as long as the dye doesn’t touch your scalp, and that you’re in a well-ventilated area everything should be fine. And since ombre dye would start at least an inch or two from my scalp, I don’t need to worry. I’ve even had my hair permed when I was pregnant with Claire! The only thing I would worry about is that pregnant hair is different from regular hair, so your hair might not “take” the dye/perm well, or it might take it TOO well. So a test patch is a must.
You look GREAT!!!!!!!!!
Your hair looks fabulous! The cut really frames your face nicely and your hair is so shiny, I’m jealous! You should totally try the ombre, I think it would look great with your hair color, post up pictures of course!
Thanks for posting a link to the ‘From Head to Toe’ blog! I always love to find cosmetic/hair blogs from people who actually try the products, she now has a place in my google reader right next to you!
p.s. Claire is getting more adorable everyday.
I love your new haircut! Looks like Claire does too. I say go for the ombre, I’ve been wanting to try this look too ever since I saw this post: http://www.frmheadtotoe.com/2011/05/my-hair-color-ombre-dye.html
You look great for a preggo! Are you going to post preggo progression shots like you did with Claire?
Thanks! I honestly think that J just did a great job taking these pictures, and even then I’m looking at my boobs and upper arms, sighing over how large they’ve gotten. I haven’t had a chance to take any belly shots yet but I plan to do so (I think I started at 17 weeks with Claire, and I’ll be 19 weeks this week so I’m not that far behind). However, I probably won’t do weekly pregnancy updates…I’ll probably post the belly shots in bunches as big milestones come up.
I love it! I’m actually going in for my preggo hair chop next weekend. Can’t wait!
I LOVE the new cut :o) and I’d say go for the color too- I agree w/your stylist. I think it would look fabulous on you :o)
..and so very happy to see comang :o)
Jenny you look HOT!! And Claire looks uber-adorable.
I’m not CRAZY about the ombre trend, but I think that’s because my ends get lighter in the summer and I’m not crazy about the look. HOWEVS, it totally looks good on the girl in the link you posted, and I think it would look just as good on you. So if you’re wanting more change, go for it!!
Aww, can’t believe you’re preggo. You don’t even look pregnant. I’m liking the haircut. So much volume and movement. Good decision! 🙂
you look fabulous. and it’s nice to see comang on the banner again!
It looks great! Always fun to get a new look!
On a different note, I have been going through your posts on setting up a blog on WordPress the past 2 days and have found them very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do them! I am working on making the switch from Blogger!
I love the new cut, it looks so great!
