Puke, and Moms

How is everyone's Labor Day weekend going? For me, it looks like this: I'm not sure if it is food poisoning or just a bad case of pregnancy-induced nausea, but I have thrown up everything I've eaten for the past 48 hours. I feel so weak and -- believe it or not -- hungry, but nothing seems to be staying down. :-( It's not bad enough to warrant a visit to the ER, but if I am not feeling better by tomorrow I will definitely be seeing a doctor. J and I were planning on taking Claire and Comang to my parents' today for some holiday BBQ, but we've canceled due to my condition and my mother has come here instead. She...

It’s September Already?

Thank you so, soooo much for all the supportive comments and messages regarding my last post. It really warmed my heart to know that so many people care.  :-) I spent the past few days enjoying some extra time with family. I know that I must be extra vulnerable and emotional due to the pregnancy hormones and the events of the past week, but I can't appreciate enough how great of a family I have and how lucky and thankful I am to have these people in my life. So if you are reading this, thank you. One of the bad pieces of news I received was of financial nature, and so we've decided to wait a few more weeks to buy my...

Fears (When the Floor Drops Out From Beneath You)

I was never officially diagnosed with SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction, or excessive and/or painful separation of the two pubic bones at the front of the pelvis) with my last pregnancy, but the pain was bad enough that I could not exercise for all of my third trimester. This pregnancy is no different. And while I have been taking it easy, I have a 19 lb infant to take care of, which is exercise in itself. According to this site, "During pregnancy hormones soften and stretch the ligamentsof the body in order to allow the pelvis to open slightly during labour so that the babycan move easily through...

Sharing is Caring

My cousin told me that when her daughter first entered preschool, and her teachers were attempting to teach her the concept of "sharing is caring," she began to use it for her own advantage. In other words, whenever she saw another child playing with a toy she liked, she would march on over, tell the poor kid, "Sharing is caring!" and take the toy for herself!  Since Claire and BebeDeux will only be 13 months apart in age, we have been hoping that they will learn to share at an early age without much intervention from us. But recent events are leading me to believe that perhaps Claire is already starting to grasp the idea...

Harry Potter Facts [Tumblr Site of the Day]

Today I stumbled upon a neat Tunblr blog called Harry Potter Facts and spent a good portion of the morning reading through all its archives. Here are some of my favorites (most have to do with what happens to Harry and the gang after book 7): I'm not sure if there will be another book series in my lifetime that will be as loved as much as Harry Potter. I can't wait until my children are old enough to start enjoying J.K. Rowling's wizarding world! J's friend tells us that his kids shout things like "Crucio!" and "Impedimenta!" to each other when they fight. And while I can't say that the use of an Unforgivable Curse on your sibling is good...

Hurricane Irene

A snippet of the conversation I had with my mother yesterday — Me: The governor has declared a state of emergency and we're in a potential flood zone. But don't worry, we're stocking up on bottled water, food, and batteries. My Mother: (horrified) Does that mean I can't see Claire this weekend? Geez, thanks for being concerned for our safety, mom.  J and I aren't too concerned about Hurricane Irene. We feel that the media is probably blowing it out of proportion, and we're hoping that the damage it leaves in its wake will not be too severe. If it weren't for Claire, we would probably have just gotten a couple of gallons of bottled water and called it a day. But as parents, we...

$50 Sephora Gift Card Giveaway!

Update: This giveaway has now come to a close. Congratulations to Irene, who entered via the Facebook giveaway page! Please be on the lookout for an email from me soon! A few months ago, the famed Urban Decay Naked Palette — which had been getting regularly sold out everywhere since its release last year — came back in stock at Sephora online and I immediately snatched one up. And you know what? It is just as good as all the online reviews say...

When I Am Granted an Evening Out Among Adults…

...blogging takes a back seat. For today, I met up with this lovely lady... To attend a fancy bloggers' reception hosted by this tech company... Wherein we learned about a bunch of new products and ways to share media, met some cool people, grubbed on yummy catered food, and enjoyed an open bar (but only Sprite for this preggo). More on what I learned later — I promise! Then I grabbed some take-out Korean fried chicken to bring home to the hubs, only to discover while waiting for my order that there had been an earth-shattering (well, at least to us geeks) announcement made in the few hours I was away from home...  We'll miss you, Steve, you patron saint of perfectionists....
