This giveaway has closed. Congratulations to Kelly Stadium, who entered by commenting! Please stay tuned for more giveaways in the future!

It’s October! The weather has cooled down, the leaves are changing colors, Starbucks is serving Pumpkin Spice Lattes again…

…and we are nearing one of America’s favorite holidays.

That’s right — Halloween is coming up in just a few short weeks! And if you do not yet have a costume, I have great news for you!

HalloweenCostumes.com has graciously offered to give one reader up to $75 worth of FREE costumes!

Their site, which is organized by sex, age, size, and even themes, features hundreds of costumes in all price ranges and tastes.

Have a little one in the house? Why not try the Baby Costumes section? Are you a history buff? Go check out the Historical Costumes! Of course, this post would not be complete without my mentioning the Star Wars Costumes or the Video Game / Toy Costumes sections. I am also loving the Wizard of Oz Costumes, and if my due date weren’t literally days away from Halloween you know I would be sporting something from the Maternity Costumes!

They even have a great selection of Couples, Groups, Plus Size, and even Pet costumes!

Here are a few of my personal favorites…

This costume can fit both kids and adults!
Mario Kart Costume, $19.99

I confess: I have always wanted to dress like the Princess of Power.
She-Ra Costume, $48.99

I have been telling J for ages that with our height difference,
we would make the perfect Spartan Cheerleaders couple.
Spartan Cheerleader Costumes, $27.99 each (female and male)

For more great costume ideas, be sure to check out the HalloweenCostumes.com Facebook Page! (You can also receive 10% off your next order by “Liking” the page!)

One year I was a die. It was nice to be in a big cardboard box because I could wear all my warm clothes underneath!

  2. J.D. says:

Once I went as another resource-consuming kid in an overpopulated planet, raised to an alarming extent by Madison Avenue and Hollywood, posed with my cynical and alienated peers to take over the world when you’re old and weak

The last time i dressed up as a geisha with some friends. I hope i win a costume so i can get something fun for my baby!

  4. Amanda says:

Aw, how fun! I haven’t dressed up for Halloween in a while – it would be fun to do it this year! 🙂

  5. Susan L says:

When I was a kid I dressed up as a pumpkin for Halloween! 🙂

  6. Erin says:

One of my favorite halloween costumes was in 6th grade, I dressed up as Mrs. Howell from Gilligan’s Island. I just took various items out of our dressup bin including a fur stole that was somehow in there. Also, once in college I was Bob from ‘What About Bob?’, costume complete with the goldfish in a glass jar around my neck.

This is such a great giveaway!

My favorite costume as an adult has been my Captain Morgan costume that I spent way too long sewing. As a kid, I was for some reason obsessed with having a broken leg, and in 5th grade I went as a car crash victim, complete with a snow boot wrapped up to look like it was a cast.

My church tries to hold a Fall Festival celebration on Halloween every year to give the church kids an alternative to trick or treating. To avoid any scary costumes, they asked everyone to wear a Bible inspired costume. I didn’t want to be another Mary or Angel (of which there were PLENTY), so I bought a white sheet, cut it up and went as the Holy Ghost. 😀

  9. Ashley says:

Two Halloweens ago I was Brittany the Chipette. It was ADORABLE. Last Halloween was pretty awesome, too. I went as Guitar Hero. I looked like a badass. I bought these fake armsleeve tattoos and sooo many people who I’d know for years thought they were real. Plus I looked so awesome that I finally understood why people want to be rock stars all the time.

  10. Veronica L says:

My most memorable Halloween costume to date would be when I was a little girl, all I wanted to be was a butterfly. So my mother and I helped design the wings and from there I glued feather down to cover the cardboard shape. Loved every minute of it 🙂

I Like Geek in Heels Facebook Page (Veronica L) and entered the sweepstakes, thanks

I totally need a costume for my son. He’s 15 months old and it will be his first celebrated Halloween.

  14. Sarah says:

My favorite costume has been my “Deviled Egg” costume. I wore a knee-length white dress (my wedding going-away dress, actually) and white heels, after sewing a yellow circle of felt to the front and back of my dress. I carried a pitchfork and wore a set of devil horns in my hair. I love wordplay and so being punny was awesome for me.

I thought I was going to go as one-half of gin & tonic, but love the adult Dorothy costumes and the Greek Goddess costume at Halloween.com – so I may rethink this stuff!

  15. Kiersley says:

Once when I was little I dressed up as a Teletubbie… I was recently a moose.

  16. Paige says:

My most memorable Halloween costume was when my two other friends dressed up as a great trio:

    1. Harold
    2. Kumar
    3. White castle (me!)

The did the sequel the following year and soon…a 3rd Harold and Kumar movie is going to come out!

    So excited!

  17. AmandaT says:

I haven’t done much on Halloween (hello premade costumes!) but I did recently go to a wedding in Steampunk under orders from the bride. Unfortunately I was the *only* person she’d mentioned it to… and she married a coworker of mine, so my bosses were there… Sigh.

  18. Stephanie D says:

I went as Edie Sedgwick — which wasn’t usually recognized, but I chopped my very long hair into a pixie cut for authenticity & it was awesome! 🙂

  19. ABC says:

My mom made me a costume when I was younger–a lightning bug! I wore black leggings and a black long-sleeved shirt, and she sewed giant wings out of glow-in-the-dark, and a little pouch for my “light”. The best part? The little pouch held a glow stick, so I was always lit up. It’s still my all-time favorite costume!

  20. Jan says:

My most memorable costume was last year, when husband and I dressed as ghostbusters

  21. Ann says:

My most memorable costume was rainbow brite. It was so much fun.

  22. MelissaT says:

I was, ahem, 16 and dressed like a cowgirl. The neighbors commented that I was too old to trick or treat. But, well, somebody had to walk my 3 younger siblings around the neighborhood at night. Just fill up the sack, ok?

  23. Mika says:

My most memorable costume was a sorcerer…basically a purple and gold witch. My parents made me wear that costume four years in a row. When I became an adult, I promised myself I would be something different every year.

  24. Ashley H. says:

I loved when I got to dress like a princess.

  25. Sarah says:

Oh, what a fun giveaway! My most memorable costume was being Jasmine (from Aladdin) when I was a little girl. My aunt made gorgeous blue outfit and headpiece.

  26. My most memorable Halloween costume would be the year I went as an Ancient Egyptian and my Mom thought it was a good idea to rubber cement sequins to my temples. Rubber cement burns like FIRE by the way and I had scars on my temples for months.

  27. Jasmin says:

My most memorable costume was a witch when I was a child. I think its memorable because I used to use the costume all the time non halloween and scare my grandparents. Luckily nothing bad happened to them.

  28. Rachael says:

My sister is the one in our family who had the best costumes. One year she dressed as a box of kleenex. She even had tissue paper that when you pulled out a sheet, another one popped out just like real boxes of tissues.

One year I dressed as a Sheikh and my husband dressed as George W. Bush. That was fun.

  29. Rachel says:

My youngest brother was born two weeks before Halloween when I was 3. I got to be a super awesome princess with a giant paper hat with streamers. My mom dressed the baby all in green. We were the princess and the pea! It was awesome.

  30. Colleen says:

I won the costume contest last year at a friend’s party with my Dolores Umbridge costume. I had the horrible pink shift dress with a terrible pink tweed blazer. I even made a replica of the Syltherin locket. For a girl who isn’t crazy about light pink I was swimming in it!
