It may seem as though I’ve forgotten about this blog, but I’ve kept up with the WordPress updates, regularly delete spam comments, and constantly have it in the back of my mind.
So why another long lapse between updates? To be frank, my life is boring. Life is good, but boring with not much to talk about. I know I used to blog a lot about my kids, but I swore back then — and still keep with the pledge — that I will not write about them too much as they get older. When they were babies, I felt more comfortable writing about them because they hadn’t developed into their own yet. But now that they’re teenagers (and even when they were elementary school-aged kids), I want to respect their privacies. And because so much of my life revolves around their lives now, there isn’t much to blog about.
In my last post, I wrote about getting surgery to stop my neverending period. I’m happy to say that the surgery worked…perhaps a bit too well. Post surgery, I had light bleeding for a couple of days, which was expected. About 2 weeks after the surgery I had a normal period…and that was it. I have not had a period for almost a year now. When I spoke to my OB about it, he said that this is most likely due to my birth control pills (I was re-prescribed Natazia, the brand I had been one before my problems began). I have no other signs of menopause so he does not think it’s early menopause. He said if I want to get my periods back I can try stop taking the pills, but a life blood-free is far better.
A few posts back I had also mentioned that my father had been diagnosed with leukemia. I’m happy to report that he is still in remission, and even his oncologist is amazed by his progress. My parents say that moving to Texas probably saved his life. If they had still been living in New York at the time of his diagnosis, he may not have survived because getting treatment would have been more difficult and expensive. The hospital in TX where my father is getting treated for his cancer gave him top-notch care, with a private room for recovery, the latest and greatest in medicine for his cancer, and even helped with the bills.
The only hardship I’m currently going through these days is the state of our country, the government, and politics. I was devastated when Kamala Harris lost the presidency and even just a short 6 weeks into his second term, Trump is turning this country into a mockery of its former self. And if things keep going the way they have been, a scary 4 years await us. I live in New York, which is undoubtedly a blue state, but I live in an area where there are a lot of Republicans and Trump supporters. I started carrying around my U.S. passport card in my wallet, just in case.
So that’s a somewhat brief 1-year update. Hopefully I will find some inspiration to blog somewhat more regularly. And since I like to include a picture with every post, here’s one I took of our new GE Profile Washer-Dryer combo unit:
I received this $2000 unit FREE from Influenster. I know many people detest Influenster for flooding e-commerce sites with incentivized reviews, but I have received quite a few great things from them, including this washer-dryer, a laser printer, tons of cosmetics, and even a pair of winter boots for J. I highly recommend you sign up for an account if you don’t already have one.
If there’s anyone from the old days still reading this blog, I’d love to know how you’re doing, what you’ve been up to, etc. Leave a comment!
