Sometimes I like to slide on over to the “heels” end of the “Geek in Heels” equation. 🙂
Yes I am a girl, and I need girly advice.
In my last post, I wrote about the project with which I am currently involved. Well, my friend’s business partner is a Hollywood producer, and his latest movie is set to debut in theaters March 20th!
The movie is The Great Buck Howard, starring Tom Hanks, John Malkovich, Colin Hanks, Emily Blunt, and Steve Zahn. (Watch the trailer here.)
As a thank you for the work I have done for the company, they have invited me to the world premiere of the movie, which will be right here in New York.
…and I have nothing to wear.
I am thinking about playing it safe with an LBD. So far, I’m really digging this candidate from Bluefly:
What do you think? Yay or nay?
Do you have any other suggestions for sub-$200?
Definitely a ‘yay’. That dress is divine – the low back makes it sexy and the little notch in the front hem is sassy. I’d add a punch of color with daring earrings (think Oscar night Angelina) or shoes.
Very nice! It’s sexy, something you could definitely wear again and something you could easier punch up with some little colourful splashes (a cute necklace or snappy clutch) if the black was too blah for you. Thumbs up!
How exciting! I think the LBD you featured above is very classy. However, I’d highly recommend going to a brick & mortar store with a large selection just so that you can try on a variety of different styles. Even after all these years of dress shopping, I still get surprised by what styles flatter me and what styles don’t. Dresses fit differently on every woman. Sometimes, a dress that looks good on a mannequin looks horrible on me. And sometimes, a dress that isn’t all that impressive on the rack somehow comes to life when I wear it.
Anyway, have fun shopping and enjoy the movie premiere!!
That is a great dress and one you can wear over and over again. I agree w/ Sherry though – I think it’s best to go into a store and try dresses on. Sometimes I end up getting a totally fabulous dress that looks so-so on the rack but fabulous on. Or I try on an LBD, only to find out it’s super duper boring on me. All this to say…I need to find a sub-$200 dress for a wedding and I need to do this soon. Want to go to Bloomingdale’s or Lord & Taylor’s together?
