No Matter What

No matter how angry, upset, or frustrated she makes me, I can never stay mad at her for too long. Especially when I catch her sleeping like this.

(I am currently lying in bed, about to doze off myself. Nap-training doesn’t seem to be getting much better, but I have renewed hope after reading a new baby sleep book today. Also, this is my first entry posted from my phone, using the WordPress Android App. Let’s see how it turns out…)

I can totally relate. It’s impossible to stay irritated at a sleeping baby.

Reading your last post, I think we just went through that 30-minute nap phase about a month back. I HATED it, as I’m the Mom that’s desperately trying to get stuff done while he naps, too. I don’t think I was able to do anything to fix it unfortunately, (sorry I’m not much help!), but I just wanted to say that he’s once again napping for 45 minutes to an hour in the mornings and about the same in the afternoon, and if I’m lucky, he takes a short catnap around 4:30 or 5:00, depending on when his afternoon nap is.

We started putting him down at 7:00pm too, and it makes a WORLD of difference. A few weeks ago, we were down to waking once a night, around 11:00, and he’d sleep until 7:30am(!!!!). It was amazing, but of course, it didn’t last long. We’re back to waking for feedings twice (11:00 and about 3:00) and he’s been waking a few extra times in between, but usually able to sooth himself back to sleep with no feedings. He’s about to turn 6 months, so I’m thinking it could be that he’s about to finally master rolling over, or he could be starting to teethe, or trying to master taking solid food, who knows… The night waking doesn’t bother me so much (I’m not nursing anymore so I can caffeinate myself pretty well) , and now that he’s finally starting to enjoy going out during the day, he’s pretty pleasant when we run errands and things.

Hang in there! I’m sure this phase can’t last forever.

Hi! I’ve been folliowing your blog for a while now and it’s been great since my daughter is several weeks younger than yours. I’m sorry nap training has been rough. I hope this phase passes quickly! When it does, I’d love a review of baby sleep books. The only one that I know of is Weissbluth’s book.
