Reader Amy suggested that I try Photoshopping under-eye fat deposits on myself to see if my theory proves correct.
What do you think? Do my eyes look larger with the under-eye bags?
For those who are wondering, this picture was taken after one too many drinks at a wedding,
when I proceeded to steal the ‘fro wig from the photo booth.
I personally think that my eyes DO look bigger with the under-eye fat deposits. Yes, I look tired and perhaps a bit older. But the extra shadow seems to create a more balanced look to my face.
This totally cracks me up! My mom is half korean and I went to a mostly korean school growing up. Everybody taped their eyes up (Sanrio used to sell the glittery ones so it looked like you had makeup on) and my friends were all so jealous of my eyelids! I have korean shaped eyes with eyelids like a white girl I guess. I’m 1/4 so I kind of have a little bit of both going on. I couldn’t help but laugh when you said Koreans have a warped view of attractiveness–sometimes my mom thinks the weirdest things are amazing!! She’s always pulling on her face and messing with her eyelids! Maybe they are just embracing the fact that they have fat deposits under their eyes and their bone structures are different than people of other nationalities. But yeah, I do think that in asian countries the ‘delicate’ look is more longed for than stronger features–small feet in China, small hands in Japan, small faces in korea, and let’s face it–most of them are all skinny with really delicate bone structures! Nothing like the sturdier ones that some of us *ahem, me* inherited from the other side of the family. Boo.
How strange! But I have to agree with you and say that it definitely changes the look of your entire face. It would have been interesting to see how many of us would have figured it out without being told that it was the fat deposits… Interesting series of posts!
You took my suggestion! I’m so honored, and I do think it sorta works. Wierd. Instead of calling it fat deposits, I suggest we start calling it eye "contouring" so make us fat deposit gifted people feel better. I don’t have fat deposits, I just have eye contouring. Hehe.
This is ridiculous…never would have thought about it, but I think you’re onto something here. NOw, can you figure out how to make money on it? Wait, I have to run to a mirror and see if I have eye contouring.
Now, that "eye contouring" sounds interesting. LOL
